Unique Helix Super Spiro Bars repair and stabilise cracked masonry, which is quick simple and cost effective to use. The Helix bars can be used in many applications to include lintel and new build bed joint reinforcing.

Just follow the 4 easy steps detailed below, use grout for larger jobs or resin for those smaller jobs, the unique design of Helix allows the grout or resin to bond effectively around each helical pitch which similar products do not allow because of their design.

Installation causes no inconvenience to the occupants, once the crack has been filled and re-pointing has taken place there is little evidence that the Helix Bars have been installed.

The photographs below detail the installation procedure whether used with crack stitching or lintel reinforcement. They both involve cutting out mortar joints and injecting grout or resin.

Crack Stitching

Cut out horizontal mortar joints to a minimum of 500mm either side of the crack to the specified depth.

Lintel Reinforcement
Disc cutter is mechanically set to one half of the brick thickness. Clean out joints with blow pump.

Inject grout using the Helix grout injection gun to the rear of the cut mortar joint.

Push the Helix bar into the grout creating a strong bond around the Helix section.

Insert grout to fill the slot I 0- I 5mm from the face allowing to repoint mortar bed and make good.

 

 

Repairing crack, near corners and openings. When cracks are less than 500mm from an external corner or an opening, at least 100mm as detailed in aside photograph should be bent round.the corner and bonded into the return wall.

 

Vertical spacing - every 4-6 brick courses (300 - 450mm)
Depth of slot for single cavity wall 25 - 35mm and 35 - 45mm for a solid wall

Technical Specifications

 Helix Super Spiro Bar, “3 metre lengths” easily cut on site to specified length requirement.

Helix Bar Diameters, 5mm and 7.5mm widths.

Helix Bar, Standard, stainless steel grade 304.

PLEASE NOTE

If the crack is within 500mm of an opening, the Helix bar should be bent back and fixed into the reveal, taking care to avoid the DPC membrane around the window.

Helix L4 non shrink grout is recommended for the larger jobs and is supplied in 15 kilo bags.

Helix resin is used for smaller jobs and is supplied in 380m1 cartridges.
